Our Story

Varshu Craft started in a traditional workshop in Karnakhedi village, Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh.

In 2016 we began cataloguing handcrafted stoneware, block prints, and artisanal home goods. Today the studio works with skilled artisan households. Nothing is machine-pressed and nothing is dyed twice the same way; the small variations are the point.

How a Piece Is Made

Four stages, no shortcuts

  1. 01

    Source

    Fine clay and natural materials are sourced directly from artisan clusters in Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring craft hubs.

  2. 02

    Shape

    Potters throw on foot‑powered kick wheels; printers carve teak blocks by hand and stamp them one pass at a time, resetting the register by eye.

  3. 03

    Finish

    Pieces are glazed with wood ash and mineral oxides, or dyed in indigo vats fermented over three weeks until the liquid turns the right shade of green‑gold.

  4. 04

    Fire & Cure

    Stoneware is wood‑fired in a bhatti kiln for eleven hours; textiles are sun‑dried on the workshop roof, then folded and pressed by hand before they travel to us.
